Coquette
Bow, blush, ribbon-pink, sugar.
The coquette manicure is performative on purpose. Coquette knows it is being looked at; this is the point. A pale pink jelly base, a tiny hand-painted bow on the ring finger, a dot of pearl on the thumb. The whole thing reads like a sticker. People who reject coquette are usually rejecting the version of themselves that wanted attention and didn't get it. People who wear coquette are usually past that. The risk is reading childish. The fix is the wrist: one hard piece of jewelry to anchor the candy. A signet, a cuff, a clean steel watch.
